Chou, a French-Cambodian director who's in town this week, has brought with him the film Diamond Island. Diamond Island is a broad look at the transformation of a society. In fact, he said, Diamond Island is almost a sequel to Golden Slumbers, despite the thematic differences. "If there hadn't been one filmmaker who spent 20 years exploring that history, I wouldn't have found the legitimacy to tell the story in Diamond Island. In the dusty Diamond Island, where young men still toil, that representation is urgent, realistic and relevant.
